Este artículo está basado en diferentes aspectos acerca de países de habla inglesa, en este caso los dos países seleccionados por los alumnos, pertenecen a la Commonwealth.  El objetivo es que mis alumnos adquieran conocimientos acerca de otras culturas con las que en definitiva tienen muchas más cosas en común de lo que ellos mismos esperan a pesar de las distancias geográficas.

Desde luego que se amplía  el conocimiento cultural y también los horizontes. Pero sobre todo despertamos la curiosidad de nuestros alumnos por conocer otras culturas, lo cual es muy enriquecedor en esta sociedad tan global en la que estamos inmersos cada día más y más.

Este proyecto ha sido elaborado por mis alumnos de 3º Eso del I.E.S «Francisco García Pavón» en Tomelloso (Ciudad Real). Los alumnos han trabajado en grupos y se han tenido que documentar acerca de aspectos tales como la naturaleza, los deportes, las comidas, la flora y fauna de ese país y las personas nativas más famosas, las Celebrities….etc.

Las competencias que se han trabajado en este proyecto son la Lingüística, Socio Cultural y artística, Aprender a aprender y la Digital principalmente.

Estos proyectos se llevaron a cabo como exposiciones orales para presentar en inglés delante de sus propios compañeros.

AUSTRALIA GEOGRAPHY

The geography of Australia encompasses a wide variety of biogeographic regions being the world’s smallest continent but the sixth-largest country in the world. The population of Australia is concentrated along the eastern and southeastern coasts. The geography of the country is extremely diverse, ranging from the snow-capped mountains of the Australian Alps and Tasmania to large deserts, tropical and temperate forests.

Neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea to the north, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and the French dependency of New Caledonia to the east, and New Zealand to the southeast.

The fauna of Australia consists of a huge variety of animals; some 83% of mammals, 89% of reptiles, 24% of fish and insects and 93% of amphibians that inhabit the continent are endemic to Australia.
In Australia live more than 140 species of marsupials, including kangaroos, wallabies , koalas and wombats.

CURIOSITIES ABOUT AUSTRALIA

Australia was the second country in the world to give women the right to vote in 1902.

Canberra was selected as the capital because Sydney and Melbourne could not stop arguing which city should be the capital of Australia.

Today’s Australia is very multicultural with Indigenous peoples and migrants from some 200 countries.
